Invited by the Japanese government to steer the industrial art of the country, Charlotte Perriand discovers a reflexion, an art of living, and an architecture compatible with the modern ideas she had defended with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. The exhibitions she organised in Japan, her publications and her pieces of furniture, be it in Tokyo or Paris, express the strong ties she had with both Western and Oriental cultures.
Thanks to unseen archives from Charlotte Perriand, this work reveals the freedom of thought of this exceptional artist in a complex era.
