Jamais le mot créateur (Correspondance 2000-2008)

9782718608877
In 1982, Simon Hantaï - the emblematic figure of abstraction - retired from public life, while he was at the peak of his art.

This radical decision to stop exhibiting seemed to suggest that he was abandoning all ideas of creation. However, it was precisely during this period that he began to deeply reflect on his work, sharing his thoughts with renowned contemporary intellectuals, leaving us his most fundamental publications.

Description

Jean-Luc Nancy had initiated a dialogue with Simon Hantaï around a presentation to the public devoted to his creative process, imagined as a studio visit.
The project stopped when the artist died in 2008 but their exclusive correspondence remains: a large number of letters in which Hantaï talks about his work and his history.
