French €25 Indisponible

Joana Vasconcelos is one of the most recognised artists on the contemporary scene: the first woman-artist to be invited to exhibit at the Château de Versailles (2012), she questions the place of women in our society, in a work combining feminism and femininity.

For its 20th anniversary, the Strasbourg's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is giving Joana Vasconcelos carte blanche to occupy the 600 m² of its exhibition hall. The artist starts from the ordinary - the everyday object - to lead us into a whimsical story that leaves no room for blandness. Vasconcelos uses the private space of domestic life and transfigures it to make it a place of freedom and emancipation. This exhibition catalogue explores her various influences through an interview with the artist and a critical essay.
