Icons of Modern Art, The Morozov Collection
Description
The brothers Mikhail and Ivan Morozov, Muscovite businessmen, have built up an extraordinary collection of works of modern art by artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Bonnard, Denis, Degas, as well as Russian artists (Vroubel, Chagall, Malevich, Repin, Larionov, Serov ...) Nationalized during the revolution of 1917, the collection was distributed, after World War II, between the Hermitage museum (in Saint Petersburg) , the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the Tretyakov Gallery (in Moscow). It is thanks to the remarkable collaboration of these Russian museums that the Fondation Louis Vuitton will present these works. This is an exceptional artistic event since this art collection has never been presented outside Russia.
