Description

Paris, Shanghai, New York, Tokyo, Rome... In thirty cities and nine atmospheres, the two hundred and twenty-five photographs of Tendance Floue gathered in this work trace the contours of a contemporary archetypal city. Born from the collaboration initiated by Louis Vuitton for the City Guide collection, this ensemble goes beyond its object and draws, beyond each singular writing, a global city, a city-world in which the reader is invited to a dazzling, mysterious and stimulating journey, to a sensitive and poetic wandering.
In his opening, David Chandler, an art critic, points out how the images of these fourteen photographers from Trend Floue resonate with literary utopias, including Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. Muriel Enjalran, art critic and director of the CRP/Regional Centre for Photography in Hauts-de-France, deciphers this urban iconography in the light of photographic commission, from the epics of the beginning of the last century to the formal revolutions brought by the greatest photographers.
