Les Cahiers de la Fondation Louis Vuitton : Gerhard Richter
Description
This second notebook from the Fondation Louis Vuitton is dedicated to Gerhard Richter. It presents thirty-two works of the artist in the collection of the Louis Vuitton Foundation, with a unique interview with the artist and richly illustrated critical texts. Gerhard Richter's interview by Dieter Schwarz puts the career of this major artist on the contemporary scene into perspective. The painter freely evokes his relationships with the artists of his generation, Blinky Palermo, Robert Ryman, Sol LeWitt, or Joseph Beuys, his pictorial work - Gray Tables with 4900 Colors or Strips (Strips) -, but also his work on books like Atlas, Wald, or Birkenau. The book also includes a preface by Suzanne Pagé and texts by art critic Philippe Dagen, Sébastien Gokalp and Olivier Michelon, notably on 4900 Farben.
Richly illustrated with more than sixty representations of the painter's works, this volume offers a retrospective look at more than fifty years of painting.
